17-Whatever You Give Me is Sweet

This is a story of a king and his servant. There was a king in India, Mahamood Gazanavee. One day, when it was a very hot day, he was eating a cucumber to cool himself down. His very devoted servant was also standing there, so he shared his cucumber with him. His servant was very happy at this, he thanked him and ate the cucumber very soon.

When the servant had eaten the cucumber, the King also took a bite from the remaining one. "Yak" he cried and spitted out the cucumber piece which was still in his mouth. He said to his servant - "How could you eat this cucumber, it is so bitter?" The servant replied - "Jahaanpanaah, I have enjoyed so many favors and blessings from you all these years, this bitter cucumber is nothing in comparison to them. Whatever you give me is sweet for me."

[So it was not the sweetness or the bitterness of the thing, it was the attitude of the servant towards his master. It was his frame of mind, that he had no reason to complain when he had got so many favors from the King. The King did not now that the cucumber was bitter when he gave him it to his servant, that is why he accepted his things with love and gratitude. That is what one should do in his life - accept the things with gratitude.]
