Parashuraam Jee is said to be the 6th incarnation of Vishnu among His 10 main incarnations. He was the son of Maharshi Jamadagni and Reukaa. Maharshi Jamadagni had 5 sons and Parashuraam was the youngest. It so happened that he became the enemy of Kshtriya because the then Haihaya Vanshee King Arjun (or Kaartveerya Arjun, or Sahastrabaahu) unlafully wanted his father's Nandinee cow and when the cow was not given, his sons killed his father and took his cow. This enraged Parashuraam and he killed Arjun and his all sons, leaving only his five sons. Later he emptied Prithvi from Kshatriya 21 times and donated it to Kashyap Jee. His nature is said to be very angry, like Durvaasaa Rishi and everybody was scared of him. So when Raajaa Janak saw him coming in his court, he also got scared and worked patiently with polite words. Still Lakshman Jee took this opportunity to talk to him and made him angry. the Raam took the matter in His hands and solved it. Parashuraam Jee wanted to test Raam, so he asked Him if He could shoot an arrow from his own bow which was no less than Shiv's bow which Raam had just broken. Raam got ready to comply and as Parashuraam wanted to give his bow to Raam, it went to Him automatically. parashuraam Jee got very surprised to see this and understood that He was the incarnation of Vishnu. He asked for His forgiveness, but Raam said - "Now what do you want me to do with this arrow? Should I take your power of roaming in other Lok, or take your Tap?" Parashuraam Jee said - "You take my Tap, because after donating this Prithvi to Kashyap Jee, I don't stay here in the night." So Raam took his all Tap and freed him. There are many stories of Parashuraam. |
