Once there was a fierce war between Devtaa and Daitya. Many Devtaa were killed, so Devtaa were very sad. Daitya's king was Vrishparvaa at that time and their Guru was Shukraachaarya Jee. Shukraachaarya Jee had Sanjeevanee Vidyaa so whoever Daitya were killed in the war, he revived them with his Sanjeevanee Vidyaa. Devtaa's Guru was Brihaspati Jee, they went to him and told their saga and requested him to get Sanjeevanee Vidyaa from him, so that he can also revive dead Devtaa. After a long discussion, Brihaspati Jee sent his son Kach to Shukraachaarya Jee to learn that Vidyaa from him.

Kach came to Shukraachaarya Jee, became his disciple and started serving him for 1,000 years. Daitya knew that Kach had come there to learn Sanjeevanee Vidyaa and they did not like this. They planned to kill Kach. Shukraachaarya had a daughter Devayaanee. As Kach was living there, serving her and her father, she started loving him. When Daitya had killed Kach, Devayaanee requested her father to bring him alive, as she could not live without him. Shukraachaarya Jee brought him to life with his Sanjeevanee Vidyaa.

When Daitya's a couple of attempts failed to kill Kach, they tried another way to kill him. They killed him and burnt him. They mixed his ashes in liquor and gave that drink to Shukraachaarya Jee to drink. Unaware of any .... Shukraachaarya Jee drank that liquor. When Devayaanee did not see Kach for some time she asked Shukraachaaya Jee to search for Kach. Shukraachaarya Jee was now familiar with Daitya's activities, so he understood that they might have killed him again. he also got worried as he was his friend's son and very dear disciple. He called him loudly - "Kach, O my son, Where are you?"

Kach heard the voice inside Shukraachaarya Jee's stomach and called from there - "Guru Jee, I am here, in your stomach. Daitya killed me, burnt me and ave my ashes to you to drink mixed in liquor." Devayaanee extremely sad hearing this and forced his father to bring Kach alive. Now how to bring him to life. Because if he brought him to life he will come out of Shukraachaary's stomach by bursting it and Shukraachaarya will be dead. Nobody else knew the Sanjeevanee Vidyaa to bring people alive so that he could bring Shukraachaarya Jee alive again.

Devayaanee suggested that Shukraachaarya should teach the Sanjeevanee Vidyaa to Devayaanee and when Shukraachaarya would be dead, she would bring him alive. The same thing happened. Shukraachaarya Jee brought Kach alive with his Vidyaa, he came out of Shukraachaarya's stomach by bursting it out, then Devayaanee brought her father to life. Later Shukraachaarya Jee taught Kach the Sanjeevanee Vidyaa. His education was complete and he was going back to his home. Devayaanee expressed her desire to marry him, but Kach politely refused as he had not looked at her as his wife; secondly, it was not according to Dharm to marry one's Guru's daughter; thirdly since now he had taken rebirth from Shukraachaarya's stomach, he was her brother and could not marry her in any case.

Hearing this Devayaanee got very angry and she cursed him that he would not be able to use whatever he had learnt from her father. Kach was unmoved in his thoughts, so he also cursed her that no Kshatriya would marry her, and went away. Later he could not use Sanjeevanee Vidyaa himself as he was cursed by Devayaanee, but he imparted it to others and they used it for the benefit of Devtaa.
