14-Pareekshit

Pareekshit's Death in MBH and in Bhaagvat Puraan
MBH says that Pareekshit built a place for himself to be saved from Takshak, still Takshak came there in a form of a worm and Pareekshit, considering it as his fate put it on his neck. He bit on his neck and Pareekshit died of that bite.

While Bhaagvat Puraan is the living proof that he listened to Bhaagvat during the last seven days of his life and he left his body through Yog before Takshak came to bite him. Both versions are from written sources (Mahaabhaarat and Bhaagvat) from the same man - Vyaas Jee

Padm Praan is one step ahead - it gives even dates as when this Bhaagvat was told to Pareekshit by Shuk Dev Jee. Padm Puraan says : Shree Mad Bhaagavat Mahaatmya 6/94 - Shuk Dev Jee started his exposition of Shree Mad Bhaagavat on the 9th of Bhaadrapad (in the month of August) after 30 years of Kali Yug had passed, commencing with the departure of Shree Krishn.

Who Stopped Janamejaya's Sarp Yagya?
Bhaagvat Puraan, 12/3/6 says that Janamejaya's Sarp Yagya was stopped by Dev Guru Brihaspati Jee.
Mahaabhaarat, G-0-Prolog/11 says that Aasteek, the son of Vaasuki Naag's sister Jaratkaaru, saved the lives of Naag by stopping the Yagya.

Now both the books, MBH and Bhaagvat, are written by Vyaas Jee, then how can he make such a big mistake, that at one place he kills Pareekshit in a well guarded palace and at another place he lets him leave his body through Yog after hearing Bhaagvat Kathaa?

In the same way the variation is about stopping the Sarp Yagya also.

Any idea?
