Geetaa-On Jaap

Doing Jaap is not a waste of time or useless, even Bhagavaan krishn has indicated to do this in His Geeta. Below are a few verses from Bhagwat Geetaa which suggests for the chanting of Mantra :---

"maharshinam bhrigur aham giram asmy ekam aksharam
yagyanam japa-yajno ’smi sthaavaranam himalayah" (Geetaa : 10 : 25)

Shree Krishn said, "Of the great sages I am Bhrigu; of vibrations I am the transcendental Om. Of sacrifices I am the chanting of the holy names / Jap, and of immovable things I am the Himalaya."

"om tat sat iti nirdesho braahmanas tri-vidhah smritah
braahmanas tena vedas cha yagyas cha vihitah pura" (Geetaa : 17 : 23)

Shree Krishn said, "O Arjun, From the beginning of the creation, the three words "Om Tat Sat" were used to indicate the Absolute Truth. These three symbolic representations were used by Braahman while chanting the hymns of the Ved and during sacrifices for the satisfaction of the God."

"satatam kirtayanto mam yatantas cha drdha-vratah
namasyantas cha mam bhaktya nitya-yukta upasate" (Geetaa, 9 : 14)

Shree Krishn said, "Always chanting My glories, endeavoring with great determination, bowing down before Me, these great souls perpetually worship Me with devotion."
