Vishwaamitra-4

Vishwaamitra and King Harishchandra

Vishwaamitra Jee had a disciple named Nakshatra. After returning from the kingdom of King Harishchandra, Vishwaamitra created many wild animals and two people. They all created a lot of trouble in the whole kingdom. Vishwaamitra Jee said to Nakshatra - Whatever Vyooh I am going to create, I need your help in that. Later both Matangee girls came to show their dance to King Harishchandra. Both danced but the King did not like the dance, still he gave them some prize, but they did not accept it.
The King said - "Ask something."
The girls said - "Will you give us?"
The King said - "Yes, I will, ask for it."
They said - "Accept us as your wife."
The King said - "I cannot do that. I am married."
"But we want only that."

In the meantime Nakshatrak came and said - "These are my daughters

The King said - "I will not marry to your daughters. I will leave the kingdom." "Then either marry my daughters, or leave the kingdom." The King said - "I am ready to leave the kingdom." And he left the kingdom and got ready to go to Kaashee.

So when the King was leaving, Vishwaamitra Jee asked the amount of his donation. King said - "But I don't have anything now." Vishwaamitra took all jewelry of the King, his wife and the son. Harishchandra gave all of it. but it was not enough. Seeing this Vishwaamitra Jee said - "If you cannot pay it, then say that "I cannot pay." The King said - "No I will surely pay it, I say it in the witness of Soorya, Chandra and Nakshatra. Give me only one month time." Vishwaamitra Jee said - "All right, Nakshatra will go with you. Give my debt to him before the term expires." So Nakshatrak went along with them.

Nakshatrak felt thirsty on the way. he sat down under a dry tree. The King went to bring water for him. The King got late and Nakshatrak was extremely thirsty, so Taaraamatee prayed with the power of her Paativrat, and the tree had juicy fruits. Nakshatrak ate those fruits to the satisfaction of his heart. Taaraamatee and Rohit also ate them.

Vishwaamitra created one Muni more and said to him - "See, the King is wandering around thirsty with his family. Take him under the banyan tree. When the King came, Nakshatrak told that all ate fruits with the power of Paativrat of the Queen." All came under the banyan tree and sat down there to take some rest. Many voices and sounds were coming there.

Vshwaamitra then created a Vaitaal and asked him to frighten the King and his family. He obeyed him, but the King killed him. Nakshatrak said - "I will not stay in this dense forest." King said - "I will surely pay your debt. Tomorrow morning we will go to some village. When the King and others were gong towards a village, Vishwaamitra created a fire on the way. Taaraamatee again prayed and the fire got calmed down.

In the morning they all came to a temple and worshipped there. Nakshatrak said - "O King. Today is the last day to pay the debt." The King said - "I will surely pay your debt today." "But you don't have anything. How will you pay?" Taaraamatee said - "Sell me and pay his debt."

Now they had come to Kaashee. There lived a Kaal Kaushik who had to go to take alms. The King started auction of his wife (Taaraamatee) to sell her. Somebody asked him - "Why are you selling your wife? Who are you?" "I am Harishchandra." Kaal Kaushik gave him only that much whatever Vishwaamitra demanded and brought her to his home as his maidservant. Kaal Kaushik gave his signet ring to the King and said - "If you give this signet ring to the King, he will give you that much money."

Vishwaamitra sent Nakshatrak to the King Harishchandra and asked him to tell him that this money was Nakshatrak's, he still has to pay Vishwaamitra's money. Nakshatrak went there and told this to the King. Hearing this the King got worried that what debt is still remaining? Nakshatrak said - "This was my labor, You still have to pay Vishwaamitra's debt." The King said - "All right, Now I will pay his debt by selling myself."

So Nakshtrak started auctioning the King. There stood a Dom, who was the in charge of cremation ground, he bought him and gave him only that much amount whatever Vishwaamitra asked. The Dom said - "My name is Veerbaahu, and my servant's name will Veerdaas." Seeing all this Nakshatrak was very sad. He was very angry on his actions.

Harishchandra at Dom's Place
The Dom did not allow to cremate the dead body without taking tax, gold coins, a new cloth and rice. Once Dom's wife asked the King to bring some Taadee (a type of raw liquor), the King could not care for it and its pitcher got broke and the Taadee fell all over the floor. he told her that his pitcher broke by hitting a cart. Dom's wife considered it a bad omen. She said - "Breaking tyhe pitcher means that wife is in trouble; and falling the Taadee means that the son is in trouble.

Dom asked - "But the pitcher is broken by him, so why we will be in trouble?" The wife said - Then all will be in trouble, not us."

Taaraamatee at Seth's Place
On the other side Seth's wife used to send some students to gather some wood, Rohit also went with them. Vishwaamitra called a Naag and ordered him to bite Rohit. he went to the forest and bit him. He died. Other children told this to his mother. Taaraamatee wanted to go to the forest to see her child, but the Seth's wife asked her to clean rice and then to see whether her son had died or was alive.

It is said that all suffer or enjoy the fruits of the Karm of their previous lives. What was the sin or karm of Raajaa Harishchandra?
What were he karm of Raajaa Shibi?

After cleaning the rice she went to see her son and took him to the cremation ground. She made a pyre of half-burnt wood and put the dead body of her son. Taaraamatee was crying. When Harishchandra heard her voice, he called - "Who is there?" He found that a woman was ready to the last rites. He asked her the tax. The woman told him that she had nothing. Harishchandra saw a necklace in her neck, so he said - "Why are you lying? Sell this necklace and pay the tax." Taaraamatee thought that the necklace was the blessing of Vashishth Jee's Tapasyaa, how could he see it? Is he not her husband Harishchandra? Then she said - "I am Taaraamatee." The queen goes to brig the tax.

This time Vishwaamitra creates a demoness. She makes the King's guards sleep, and the Prince also sleep in the forest. Guards find Taaraamatee there and arrest her in the crime of stealing the Prince's jewelry and killing him. King orders to kill her. The King's servamts bring her to the cremation ground to hang her. As Harishchandra got ready to cut his wife's neck, that Vashishth and Vishwaamitra Jee appeareed there and held his hand.

Vashishth Jee said  - "I told you before."
Vishwaamitra Jee said - "But I have proved it
