Several people have said this
that "tell me the place where there is no God".
Naamdev and Vithobaa
Once Naamdev was instructed by
Shiv to see his Bhakt Vithobaa, so he went to see him in a temple. there
he found a man sitting his feet on the Shiv Ling. Naamdev was a great
devotee of Shiv so he got very angry to see this man keeping his feet on
Shiv Ling. In the meantime the priest of that temple said to him that he
was the man Vithobaa whom he was looking for. Naamdev thought why Shiv has
sent him to see this man and learn something from him, that the man spoke -
"O Naamdev, I am so old that I cannot move my limbs, please move my
feet where there is no God." Naamdev lifted his feet and tried to put
his feet away from that statue, but surprisingly wherever he wanted to put
his feet Shiv appeared there. Naamdev repented for his thoughts about that
old man and asked for his forgiveness. This taught him the lesson that Shiv
or God is everywhere, whether living or non-living things. After this incident
Naamdev's life was changed. Now he started seeing Shiv everywhere and lived
with him always.
Mirzaa Asaadullaah Beg Khaan (pen name Gaalib), 1797-1869, has been a
great Urdu poet of India. He used to drink a lot and was very fond of
gambling. Once somebody praised Sheikh Sahabai's poetry in front of him,
at this he said - "How can he be a great poet, he has never tasted
wine, nor he has gambled, he has not been beaten by slippers by his lovers,
nor has he ever seen the inside of the jail." However, once he was
drinking sitting inside Masjid, then the Mullaa asked him to go away
from there as it was Allaah's house. At this Gaalib said -
"Gaalib Sharaab Peene de Masjid mein Baith kar
Varanaa vah Jagah bataa jahaan Khudaa na ho."
Means - "Gaalib says that let me drink wine sitting in Masjid, otherwise
tell me that place where there is no God (Khudaa, or Allaah)."
