Eligibility

Eligibility is very important in all kinds of Daan - just any Daan.

Many people ask their Masters (Guru) many questions and they try their best to answer their questions, but they might not answer their all questions. They might answer some, but might keep quiet for others. They asked the questioner to go deeper and meditate or go to another Guru and learn. And there is nothing wrong in this approach is it not dear brother?

Sage Agastya, one of the greatest sages asked Hayagreev (the incarnation of Vishnu with the horse head) to give him (the sage) the intricacies of Shree Lalitaa Sahastra Naam Stotra if He thought he was eligible for it - mark the word eligibility (Arhat). That is the mark of humility.

Even when Paarvatee asks Shiv so many questions but always adds the sentence - please tell me if you think I am eligible....

Vidya Daan - gift of knowledge is one of the greatest gifts to a person and the question of Paatrataa (Arhat) or eligibility always comes in. Sai Baba tells at one place in Sri Sai Satcharitra - "My Treasury is full and I can give anything asked for, but I have to see the eligibility." At another place also, he advises the people to take only what they can digest / absorb and be content, not everythhing just like that.

In fact this is true for any Daan - whether it is Vidyaa Daan, Dhan Daan, Kanyaa Daan, and it is true for both sides - who gives Daan and who takes Daan. If somebody gives millions of dollars to somebody who does not know how to spend, he is wrong to give that money to him; in the same way the person who takes that money will not be able to put it in its correct use, so that much money is useless for him. That is why eligibility is very important in all kinds of Daan
