As told on the first page of Hanumaan, Hanuman Chaaleesaa is the most sung or most recited prayer among people of India. Children sing it with a great enthusiasm. It has been written in Dohaaa Chaupaaee meters. Its one Chaupaaee "Bhoot Pishaach Nikat Nahin Aavai, Mahaaveer Jab Naam Sunaavai" is even popular in Muslims also.

Dohaa 1
Shree Guru Charan Saroj Raj, Nij Man Mukar Sudhaari,
Barnau Raghuvar Bimal Jasu, Jo daayaku Phal Chaari
Meaning - With the dust of Guru's Lotus feet, I clean the mirror of my mind and then narrate the sacred glory of Ram Chandra, The Supreme among the Raghu dynasty who is the giver of the four attainments of life.

Dohaa 2
Budhi heen Tanu Jaanike, Sumirau, Pavan Kumaar,
Bal Budhi Vidyaa Dehu Mohi, Harahu Kalesh Bikaar
Meaning - Knowing myself to be ignorant, I urge you, O Hanuman, The son of Pavan! O Lord! kindly Bestow on me strength, wisdom and knowledge, removing all my miseries and blemishes.

Chaupaayee 1
Jai Hanumaan Gyaan Gun Saagar,  Jai Kapees Tihun Lok Ujaagar
Meaning - Victory of Thee, O Hanuman, Ocean of wisdom and virtue, victory to the Lord of monkeys who is well known in all the three worlds

Chaupaaee 2
Ramdoot Atulit Bal Dhaamaa,  Anjani Putra Pavansut naamaa.
Meaning - You, the Divine messenger of Raam and repository of immeasurable strength, are also known as Anjaniputra and known as the son of the wind - Pavanputra.

Chaupaaee 3
Mahaabeer Bikram Bajarangee,  Kumati Nivaar Sumati Ke Sangee.
Meaning - O Hanuman Jee! You are valiant and brave, with a body like lightening. You are the dispeller of darkness of evil thoughts and companion of good sense and wisdom.

Chaupaaee 4
Kanchan Baran Biraaj Subesaa,  Kanan kundal kunchit kesaa.
Meaning - Shri Hanuman jee's physique is golden colored. His dress is pretty, Wearing 'Kundals' ear-rings and his hairs are long and curly.

Chaupaaee 5
Haath Bajra Aur Dhwajaa Biraajai,  Kaandhe Moonj Janeoo saaje.
Meaning - Shri Hanuman Jee is holding in one hand a lighting bolt and in the other a banner with sacred thread across his shoulder.

Chaupaaee 6
Shankar Suvan Kesaree Nandan,  Tej Prataap Mahaa Jag Vandan.
Meaning - Oh Hanuman Jee! You are the emanation of 'SHIV' and you are the delight of Kesaree. Being ever effulgent, you and hold vast sway over the universe. The entire world propitiates you and you are adorable to all.

Chaupaaee 7
Vidyaavaan Gunee Ati Chaatur,  Raam Kaj Karibe Ko Aatur
Meaning - You are the repository of knowledge, virtuous, very wise and highly keen to do the work of Shree Raam.

Chaupaaee 8
Prabhu Charitra Sunibe Ko Rasiyaa,  Ram Lakhan Seetaa man basiyaa.
Meaning - You are intensely greedy for listening to the narration of Raam's life story and revel on its enjoyment. You ever dwell in the hearts of Shree Raam-Seetaa and Lakshman.

Chaupaaee 9
Sookshma roop Dhari Siyahi Dikhaavaa,  Bikat roop Dhari Lank Jaraavaa
Meaning - You appeared before Seetaa in a diminutive form, while you set Lanka on fire assuming an awesome form.

Chaupaaee 10
Bheem roop Dhari Asur Sanhaare,  Raamchandra Ke kaaj Sanvaare.
Meaning - He, with his terrible form, killed demons in Lankaa and performed all acts of Shree Raam.

Chaupaaee 11
Laaya Sajeevan Lakhan Jiyaaye,  Shree Raghubeer harashi ur laaye.
Meaning - You brought Sanjeevan (Bootee) and brought Lakshman alive, Shree Raam Jee embraced you deeply with his heart full of joy.

Chaupaaee 12
Raghupati Keenhee Bahut Badaaee,  Tum Mama Priya Bharatahi Sam Bhaaee.
Meaning - Ram lustily extolled Hanumaan Jee's excellence and remarked, "you are as dear to me as my own brother Bharat".

Chaupaaee 13
Sahas Badan Tumharo Jas Gaaven,  Asa kahi Shreepati Kanth Laagave.
Meaning - Shree Raam embraced Hanumaan Jee saying: "Let the thousand-tongued Shesh Naag sing your glories"

Chaupaaee 14
Sanakaadik Brahmaadi Muneesaa,  Naarad Saarad Sahit Aheesaa
Meaning - Sanak and the sages, saints, Brahma, the great hermits Naarad and Saraswatee along with Shesh Naag Jee (the cosmic serpent), fail to sing the glories of Hanumaan Jee exactly.

Jam Kuber Digpaal Jahaan Te,  Kabi Kabid Kahi Sake Kahaan Te
Meaning - What to talk of denizens of the earth like poets and scholars ones etc even Gods like Yam Raaj, Kuber, and Digpaal fail to narrate Hanumaan's greatness in toto.

Tum Upkaar Sugrivahi Keenhaa,  Ram Milaaya Raajpad Deenhaa
Meaning - You rendered a great service to Sugreev, It were you who united him with Shree Raam and installed him on the royal throne.

Chaupaaee 17
Tumharo Mantra Bibheeshan Maanaa,  Lankeshwar Bhaye Sab Jag Jaanaa.
Meaning - By heeding your advice. Vibheeshan became the king of Lankaa, which is known all over the universe.

Chaupaaee 18
Jug Sahastra Jojan Par Bhaanu,  Leelyo Taahi Madhur Phal Jaanu
Meaning - Hanumanji gulped, the Sun at distance of 2,000 Yojan (16,000 miles) considering it to be a sweet fruit.

Chaupaaee 19
Prabhu Mudrikaa Meli Mukh Maaheen,  Jaladhi Laanghi Gaye Acharaj Naaheen.
Meaning - Carrying the Lord's ring in his mouth, he went across the ocean. There is no wonder in that.

Chaupaaee 20
Durgam Kaaj Jagat Ke Jete,  Sugam Anugraha Tumhare Te Te.
Meaning - All the difficult tasks in the world are rendered easiest by your grace.

Chaupaaee 21
Ram Duvaare Tum Rakhavaare,  Hot Na Aagyaa Bin Paisaare.
Meaning - You are the sentinel at the door of Raam's mercy mansion or His divine abode. No one can enter it without your permission.

Chaupaaee 22
Sab Sukh Lahen Tumhaaree Saranaa,  Tum Rakshak Kaahu Ko Daranaa.
Meaning - By your grace one can enjoy all happiness and one need not have any fear under your protection.

Aapan Tej Samhaaro Aapai,  Teeno Lok Haank Te Kaanpai
Meaning - When you roar all the three worlds tremble and only you can control your might.

Bhoot Pisaach Nikat Nahi Aavai,  Mahaabeer Jab Naam Sunaavai.
Meaning - Great Brave on. Hanumaan Jee's name keeps all the Ghosts, Demons and evils spirits away from his devotees.

Naasai Rog Hare Sab Peeraa,  Japat Nirantar Hanumat Beeraa
Meaning - Who does continuous Jaap of Hanumaan's name his all diseases, sorrows and pains are finished.

Sankat Te Hanumaan Chhudavai,  Man Kram Bachan Dhyaan Jo Laavai.
Meaning - Those who remember Hanuman in thought, word and deed are well guarded against their odds in life.

Chaupaaee 27
Sab Par Raam Tapasvee Raajaa,  Tinake Kaaj Sakal Tum Saajaa
Meaning - You are the caretaker of even Tapaswee Raam, who is even the Supreme Lord and the Monarch of all those devoted in
penances and whose all tasks are done by you.

Chaupaaee 28
Aur Manorath Jo Koee Laave,  Soi Amit Jeevan Phal Paave.
Meaning - You fulfill the desires of those also who come to you with any other wish and bestow them with limitless fruit of life.

Chaupaaee 29
Chaaron Jug Parataap Tumhaaraa,  Hai Parasiddh Jagat Ujiyaaraa.
Meaning - You magnificent glory is acclaimed far and wide all through the four ages and your fame is radiantly noted all over the cosmos.

Chaupaaee 30
Saadhu Sant Ke Tum Rakhavaare,  Asur Nikandan Raam Dulaare.
Meaning - You are the savior of saints and sages and destroy all the Demons, you are the seraphic darling of Shree Raam.

Chaupaaee 31
Asht Siddhi Nau Nidhi Ke Daataa,  Asa Bar Deen Jaanakee Maataa.
Meaning - Hanumanji has been blessed with mother Janki to grant to any one any Yaugik power of eight Siddhi and Nava Nidhi as per choice.

Chaupaaee 32
Raam Rasaayan Tumhare Paasaa,  Sadaa Raho Raghupati Ke Daasaa.
Meaning - You hold the essence of devotion to Raam, always remaining His Servant.

Chaupaaee 33
Tumhare Bhajan Ram ko Paaven.  Janam Janam Ke Dukh Bisaraaven.
Meaning - Through devotion to you, one can attain Raam and becomes free from suffering of several lives.

Chaupaaee 34
Ant Kaal Raghubar Pur Jaaee,  Jahaan Janam Hari Bhakt Kahaaee.
Meaning - After death he enters the eternal abode of Raam and remains a devotee of Him, where he becomes His Bhakt forever.

Chaupaaee 35
Aur Devataa Chitt Na Dharaee,  Hanumat Sei Sarv Sukh Karaee
Meaning - You need not hold any other demigod in mind. Hanumaan alone will give all happiness.

Chaupaaee 36
Sankat Kate Mitey Sab Peera, Jo Sumirai Hanumat Balabeeraa
Meaning - Oh Powerful Hanuman, You end the sufferings and remove all the pain from those who remember you.

Chaupaaee 37
Jai Jai Jai Hanumaan Gosaaee,  Kripaa Karahu Gurudev Ki Naaeen
Meaning - Hail-Hail-Hail- Hanumaan! I beseech you to bless me in the capacity of my supreme 'Guru' (teacher).

Chaupaaee 38
Jo Sat Baar Paath Kar Koee,  Chhutahi Bandi Mahaa Sukh Hoee.
Meaning - One who recites this Hanumaan Chaaleesaa one hundred times daily for one hundred days becomes free from the bondage of life and death and enjoys the highest bliss at last.

Jo Yah Padhe Hanumaan Chaaleesaa,  Hoy Siddha Saakhee Gaureesaa
Meaning - As Lord Shankar witnesses, all those who recite Hanuman Chaaleesaa regularly are sure to be benedicted

Chaupaaee 40
Tulasee Daas Sadaa Hari Cheraa,  Keeje Naath Hriday Maha Deraa.
Meaning - Tulasee Daas always the servant of Lord prays. "Oh my Lord! You enshrine within my heart.

Last Dohaaa
Pavan Tanaya Sankat Haran, Mangal Moorati Roop.
Ram Lakhan Seetaa Sahit, Hridaya Basahu Sur Bhoop.
Meaning - O Shri Hanuman, The Son of Pavan, Saviour The Embodiment of blessings, reside in my heart together with Raam, Lakshman and Seetaa
