Martin Luther King, Jr (USA)

Martin Luther King was a famous American Civil Rights leader. He is the most well-known for his camp;aigns to end racial differences on public transport and for racial equality. His "I Have a Dream" is his 17-minute famous public speech, in which he called for racial equality and an end to discrimination. King's delivery of the speech on August 28, 1963, from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, was a defining moment of the American Civil Rights Movement.

Shortly after his death in 1968, a campaign was started for his birthday to become a National Holiday to honor him. In his memory then US Government has declared Martin Luther's birthday a Public holiday in the month of January, on its 3rd Monday. It was started in 1986.
