Seetaa as Queen and in Exile Again
After Seetaa got released from Lankaa, Raam, Lakshman and Seetaa came to Ayodhyaa. There Raam was crowned as the King of Ayodhyaa. Not much time passed like this that one day Raam came to know that people talk about Seetaa's character (about her living in Raavan's house). Ram got very upset hearing this.

Seetaa was pregnant at that time. Raam asked Her if She wished for anything. Seetaa said - "I want to visit Muni's Aashram." Next day Raam called Lakshman and sent Seetaa along with Him. Seetaa was very happy. Raam had told everything to Lakshman, so Lakshman was very sad. He asked Lakshman to drop Her near Vaalmeeki's Aashram and make sure that Vaalmeeki Jee had taken Her to his Aashram. Lakshman did so. Lakshman was repeatedly asking for Seetaa's forgiveness for this action.

Vaalmeeki Jee came there and took Seetaa to his Aashram. There She gave birth to twins, two sons - Lav and Kush. Children grew up in the Aashram, got educated there, and learned Raamaaayan there from Vaalmeeki Jee. When Raam was doing Ashwamedh Yagya, the children caught Raam's Yagya horse and defeated all their uncles. Then Raam himself came there and took them to His Yagya, and listened to their Raamaayan.

Then He came to know about Seetaa and that they were His own children. He called Seetaa and asked Her again to pass the test for being faithful to Raam. Seetaa passed the test saying - "If I am faithful to Raam, then my Prithvi Maa should appear and take me in her laps." Prithvi Maa appeared by ripping apart the ground there and took Seetaa in her laps and took Her away to her Lok. Everybody was stunned to see such test of faithfulness to husband.

Why Seetaa was Exiled and Who was the Washerman?
This legend has been taken from Padm Puraan, Paataal Khand, 4/12, p 518-520. Seetaa was born from the line created by the plough of Seeradhwaj when he was tilling a piece of land for Yagya. She was very beautiful so he named her Seetaa. One day she was playing in the garden with her friends. There was a parrot couple talking on a branch of tree. One of them said - "There will be a King named Raam, His wife will be Seetaa. Raam will rule over all kings. Blessed are Raam and Jaanakee who will enjoy each other on this Prithvi."

Seetaa heard this and found that they were talking about Her only, so she thought, "Let me ask them some other things also about my life." So she asked her friends to catch those parrots. They went and brought them there. Seetaa said to them - "Don't be afraid, you are very beautiful. Who are you and where have you come from? And who are Raam, and who is this Seetaa? How do you know about them. Tell me the truth." At this parrots said - "We live in Vaalmeeki's Aashram. He has written a book named Raamaayan, he loves it very much and teaches it to his disciples. Hearing that there we have also remembered it. We tell you who are Raam and Jaanakee and what is going to happen with them. Because of the Yagya performed by Maharshi Rishyashring, Vishnu will appear in four forms - Raam, Lakshman, Bharat and Shatrughn. He will come to Mithilaa along with his brother Lakshman and Vishwaamitra. Here He will break the bow which is difficult even tomove for others, and marry Seetaa. Thus they will rule for many years. Now we want to go, please free us."

Seetaa got more curious, and asked them - "Where will Raam be? Whose son He will be? And how He will look in human being's form?" The she-parrot knew in her heart that she was Seetaa, so she fell on her feet and said - "His face will be very beautiful like lotus flower. Who has 100 mouths, even he cannot describe Him, then how can I describe Him? But Hey Beautiful, Who are you? And why are you asking me about Him?"

At this Seetaa said - "You are talking about whatever Janak Kumaaree Seetaa, that Seetaa is me. Now I will free you only when my Raam will come here and will marry me. Now you live in my house and eat sweet things." The she-parrot said - "We are wild birds, live in forests, and wander around, how can we live in your house? Besides, I am pregnant. Let me deliver my children at my place, after that I will come to your place." But Seetaa did not free her. The he-parrot also requested her to free her, but still she did not free her.

Hearing this the he-parrot got very sad and said - "Yogee say rightly that one should not say anything to anybody, otherwise he is bound to his words. If we had been quiet, we wouldn't see this day." He again requested Seetaa to free her, but she didn't listen to, so the she-parrot got angry with sorrow and gave Shaap to Seetaa - "As you are separating me from my husband in this situation, in the same way you will also be separated from your husband when you will be pregnant." and she died calling "Raam, Raam" because of the grief of separation from her husband. At the same time a Vimaan (airplane) came and she went to Param Dhaam riding in that Vimaan.

Seeing his wife dead, the he-parrot also got sad, and said - "I will take birth in Ayodhyaa city and because of me Seetaa will have to suffer with this Shaap." Because of insulting Seetaa in sorrow and anger, he was born as a washerman. Because of that washerman's words Seetaa got insulted and got separated from her husband at the time when she was pregnant.
