Kaagbhushundi

We meet Kaagbhushnudi Jee in Tulasee's Raam Charit Maanas. Almost half of Uttar Kaand is devoted to him. it is a most known information source about him. His biography is interesting and so is interesting is the reference an context in which this biography is given there. It should be noted that Kaagbhushundi Jee is very old. He himself told Garud Jee that he had seen 27 Kalp, and he is indeed immortal. Kaagbhushundi Jee is a crow who is always busy in telling Raam Kathaa to many different kinds of birds.

Context of Kaagbhushundi Jee
When Kumbhkarn was killed Raavan got very sad. Meghnaad consoled him and assured him to show his bravery next day. So Next day he used his Naag Paash at Raam and Raam allowed Himself to be tied with Naag Paash. Seeing this Naarad Jee sent Garud Jee to eat those snakes. Garud, Garud Jee came there and ate all those Maayaa Naag. When he was going back, he thought - "What kind of Bhagavaan is He that He got tied with Naag and could not free from them Himself? I had to go and free Him from them." Thinking thus he got pride in his heart that "I freed Bhagavaan from Naag." So he went to Naarad Jee and asked him that "What kind of Bhagavaan was Raam that He could not even free Himself from Naag and I had to go to free Him?" Naarad Jee thought - "No wonder, he is also under Raam's Maayaa's control which has made me dance several times (read Naarad-1, Naarad-3 and Bhavishya Puraan, 4/2 how Hari's Maayaa made him dance). I should help him, but I myself cannot convince him." so he sent him to Brahmaa Jee. Brahmaa Jee thought, "Even I who has created this world, am affected by His Maayaa." so he sent him to Shiv Jee.

So Garud Jee went to Shiv Jee. At that time Shiv Jee was going to Kuber to see him. When Garud Jee posed his doubt, Shiv Jee thought, "He will not be able to understand me so I should send him at some place where he can understand the effect of Raam'a Maayaa." so he said - "Your doubt will not go away in a short time like this. this can be removed only by Satsang and listening to Raam's Kathaa repeatedly. Better you go to Neel Parvat where Kaagbhushundi Jee recites Raam Kathaa daily. You go and listen to it. He will be able to remove your doubts." Thus directed by Shiv Jee, Garud Jee came to Kaagbhushundi Jee, heard Raam Kathaa from him and removed his doubts.

Autobiography of Kaagbhushundi Jee
As Shiv Jee was telling this Kathaa to Paarvatee Jee, Paarvatee Jee also got curious that After listening to Raam Kathaa, that who was this Kaagbhushundi? Why he was in crow's Yoni (species) being so devoted to Raam? How he got so much Gyaan? etc etc. Then Shiv Jee told her his story - his story is given in Tulasee's Maanas, Uttar Kaand/7 and onward.
