Alark

There are 3 Alark. Alark is not the witness of Raamaayan or Mahaabhaarat, but he is describes here because he is closely associated with Dattaatreya.

(1) Alark
One King Alark is in Chandra Vansh. Pururavaa - 6 sons (1) Aayu, (2) Shrutaayu, (3) Satyaayu, (4) Raya, (5) Vijaya, and (6) Jaya. Aayu had 5 sons - Kshatravriddh - - Dhanvantari - - Divodaas - Dyumaan - Alark (see Chandra Vansh according to Bhaagvat Puraan, 9/8). Alark's son was Santati. He is believed to have reigned for 60,000 years.


(2) Another Alark was the son of Ritudhwaj and Madaalasaa. He was the disciple of Dattaatreya. His name comes in Tripur Rahasya. He was a king, the son of Ritudhwaj. Ritudhwaj had two sons - Subaahu and Alark. Subaahu and Alark tried to help King of Kaashee to attain Moksh. Read this description in Dattaatreya - Dattaatreya and Alark.
