Creation

Creation means making something. Muni Maitreya told Vidur Jee the following 10 types of Creation:

Praakrit Creation - These six are called Praakrit creations.

1. The first creation is of Mahat-Tattwa (Brahmaa). Creating difference between three Gun - Sat, Raj and Tam is its form.
2. The second creation is of Ahankaar which created 5 Bhoot, 5 Gyaan Indriyaan and 5 Karm Indriyaan.
3. The third creation is of Bhoot Sarg in which there is Tanmaatraa Varg to create Panch Mahaa Bhoot.
4. The fourth creation is of Indriyaan. They are equipped with Gyaan and Karm.
5. The fifth creation is of Devtaa of Indriyaan. They are born of Saatvik Ahankaar.
6. The sixth creation is of Avidyaa - it includes Taamistra, Andh-Taamistra, Tam, Moh, Mahaamoh (intense love towards materials and people). These five cover the wisdom of people and make lose their way.

Vaikrit Creation - The following four are called Vaikrit creations:

7. The seventh creation is of six types of Sthaavar (immovable) trees. All of them have roots and grow upward. They don't have knowledge. They feel only touch but from inside only. Each one has one or the other quality.
(1) Vanasapti (vegetation) - those trees which get their fruits without flowers, such as Peepal, banyan, Goolar etc.
(2) Aushadhi (medicinal plants) - which are destroyed after their fruits are ripen, such as rice, wheat, black gram etc.
(3) Lataa (creepers) - which grow with the help of something, such as Braahmee, Giloya etc.
(4) Twaksaar - whose bark or outer skin is very hard, such as bamboo etc.
(5) Veerudh - which creepers do not grow upward because of their hardness. They spread on ground only, such as, melon, watermelon, cucumber etc.
(6) Drum - in which first come flowers, then come fruits on those flowers, such as mango, Jaamun, pomegranate etc.

8. The eighth creation is of TiryaK species - animals and birds, They are 28 types. They do not know Time. Because of the access of Tamo Gun they know only eating, drinking, sleeping and sexual activities. They have strong smelling power. They cannot think, and they cannot foresee.

(1) Among them the cow, goat, buffalo, black deer, pig, Neel cow, Ruru deer, sheep, camel are of 2-finger foot.
(2) Donkey, horse, pony, Gaur deer etc are 1-finger foot.
(3) Dog, jackal, wolf, lion, rabbit, monkey, elephant, tortoise, crocodile etc have 5-finger foot.
(4) Vulture, falcon, peacock, swan, crane, Chakavaa, crow and owl etc are flying creatures.

9. The ninth creation is of human beings. It is of only one type. Its food goes from upward to downward. They get enjoyment in doing Karm and enjoying all materialistic kind of things.

Thus Sthaavar, animals and birds, and human beings, these three types of creations and Dev Sarg (mentioned under Praakrit creation) come under Vaikrit creation.

10. Besides this there is Kaumaar Sarg (creation) under which come Sanat Kumaar etc Rishi This comes under both Praakrit and Vaikrit creation.

Dev creation includes Devtaa, Pitar, Asur, Gandharv and Apsaraa, Yaksh and Raakshas, Siddh, Chaaran, Vidyaadhar, Bhoot Pret and Pishaach and Kinnar Kimpurush and Ashwamukh etc
