7-Raajaa Trishanku and Harishchandra

Shuk Dev Jee said - "I have already told you that Ambareesh was the best son amongst Maandhaataa's all sons. His grandfather Yuvanaashwa had accepted him as his own son. Ambareesh had a son named Yauvanaashwa and his son was Haareet. In the family-line of Maandhaataa, these three became the leader of three Avaantar Gotra.

Naag married their sister Narmadaa to Purukuts (son of Maandhaataa and brother of Ambareesh and Muchukund). With the permission of Naag Raaj Vaasuki, Narmadaa took her husband to Rasaatal. There he got Bhagavaan's power and he killed some Gandharv. At this Naag Raaj Vaasuki got very pleased with him and gave him a Var that whosoever will remember this reference he will not have any fear from serpents. He had a son named Trasdrasyu, and his son was Anranya, and his son was Haryashwa, and his son was Arun, and his son was Tribandhan. Tribandhan's son was Satyavrat. This Satyavrat became known as Trishanku. Although Trishanku became Shoodra because of the Shaap of his father and Guru, but with the help of Vishwaamitra Jee he was able to go to Swarg with this physical body. Seeing this Devtaa pushed him down and he started falling down with head towards Earth, then Vishwaamitra kept him in the sky with his Tap power. He can still be seen hanging in the middle of sky and earth.

Trishanku had a son named Harishchandra. For him, Vishwaamitra and Vashishth Jee gave Shaap to one another and became birds and continued to fight for many years. Harishchandra did not have any child that is why he was very sad. One day, at the advice of Naarad Jee, he went to Varun Devtaa and prayed for a son and said - "If I will have a brave son, then I will do the Yagya with that son." When the time came he had a son named Rohit. Varun Jee said - "Now you fulfill your promise - do the Yagya with this son." Harishchandra said - "When your Yagya animal (Rohit) will be 10 days old, then he will be worthy of the Yagya." After 10 days Varun Jee again reminded him of his promise. Then Harishchandra said - "When he will have his teeth come out then he will be worthy of the Yagya." When his teeth came out, then Varun Jee again reminded him of his promise. Harishchandra said - "When his child teeth will fall then he will be worthy of the Yagya." Thus a lot of time passed and Harishchandra did not do the Yagya.

When Rohit came to know that his father wanted to sacrifice him for Yagya, then he went to forest with his bow and arrow. After a few days he came to know that Varun Devtaa was angry with his father and he had made him ill with Mahodar disease, so he started towards his city. Then Indra came and stopped him and said - "It is better to roam around in Teerth places instead of being a sacrifice animal." At the advice of Indra he stayed in the forest for one year more. Then every year Indra came in the form of an old Braahman to stop him going towards his city and he did not go there for six years.

In the 7th year, when he started towards his city, then he bought the middle son of Ajeegart - Shunahshep - and gave him to his father as Yagya animal. Then only his father got all right and he did the Purushmedh Yagya in which Vishwaamitra became Hotaa, Jamadagni became Adhwaryu, Vashishth Jee became Brahmaa and Ayaasya Muni became Udgaataa for Saam Gaan. At that time pleased with Harishchandra Indra gave him a gold Chariot.

Pleased with Harishchandra that he was firm in Satya along with his wife, Vishwaamitra delivered him that knowledge, which is indestructible. According to that knowledge Harishchandra stabilized his Man in Prithvi, Prithvi in Water, Water in Tej, Tej in Vaayu, Vaayu in Aakaash and Aakaash in Ahankaar. Then he stabilized Ahankaar in Mahat Tattwa, meditated Gyaan-Kalaa through which he destroyed his A-Gyaan (ignorance). After this he felt Nirvaan-Moksh pleasure which had left for Gyaan-Kalaa too."

8-Raajaa Sagar

Shuk Dev Jee said - "Rohit's son was Harit. Harit's son was Champ who habited Champaa Puree. Champ's son was Sudev, his son was Vijaya, his son was Bharuk, his son was Vrik and Vrik's son was Baahuk. Enemies took the kingdom from Baahuk, so he went to forest with his wife. When he got old there and died then his wife also wanted to be Satee with him, but Maharshi Aurv knew that she was pregnant, so he stopped her from being Satee. When Baahuk's other wives came to know about this, they gave her "Gar" (poison) with food but it did not affect the child, rather the child was born with "Gar" that is why he was named as Sagar (Sa-Gar means with poison).

Raajaa Sagar became a Chakravartee Samraat. At the order of his Guru Aurv Sagar did not kill Taaljangh, Yavan, Shak, Haihaya and Barbar communities, but he deformed them - some of them were asked to shave their heads, some of them were asked to grow mustache and beard, some were asked to keep their hair untied, some of them were asked to shave their head in half. After this Sagar did Ashwamedh Yagya. Indra stole the horse of his Yagya. At that time his wife Sumati's sons looked for that horse on the surface of the whole Earth but could not find it, so they started digging out the Earth. Then they found it in Kapil Muni's Aashram tied with a tree. (Indra tied it there). Seeing that horse there all princes cried - "This is the thief of our horse, and now he is sitting his eyes closed. He is a sinner, kill him, kill him." At the same time Kapil Jee opened His eyes and Raajaa Sagar's all 60,000 sons were burned immediately.

Sagar's another wife was Keshinee. She had a son named Asmanjas and his son was Anshumaan. Anshumaan was very obedient to his grandfather Sagar. Asmanjas was a Yogee in his previous life and he still remembered his previous life, therefore he used to do such Karm that showed him insane, for example he used to throw playing children in Sarayoo River. Thus he made people tired of himself. So Raajaa Sagar exiled him. Later he gave life to the children whom he threw in the river. When people saw their children back in their houses they got very surprised and Sagar repented for his act.

When Raajaa Sagar's 60,000 sons did not come back, he sent his grandson Anshumaan in search of the horse. He followed the path of his uncles and reached in Kapil Muni's Aashram and saw the bones and ash of his uncles' bodies. He bowed to Kapil Muni and prayed to Him - "Since you are beyond the birth of Brahmaa Jee, therefore Rishi and Maharshi also cannot know you - we stand nowhere. Who live in this world are made up of Sat, Raj and Tam Gun. They are all confused with your Maayaa. Since they are extrovert, they can see outside things, but not the inside ones. How I can meditate you because I have no wisdom to do that. You have no name, no form, you are Omnipresent Soul. To deliver the knowledge you have taken this form. We greet you."

When Anshumaan prayed thus, Kapil Jee got very pleased with him and said - "My son, This horse is your grandfather's Yagya animal. Take it. Your dead uncles will get good Gati only when Gangaa Jal will touch their ash." Anshumaan circumambulated Him with a great devotion and brought the horse back and completed the Yagya. Then Raajaa Sagar handed over his kingdom to Anshumaan and left the body."
