He has a problem of income -
He might have ill placed Saturn, weak 11th, and 6th houses and also 2nd house possibly.

Saturn is in his 2nd House. Ask him to donate 1.25 meters black cloth and 1.25 kg Kaale Urad (cereal) for 7 Saturdays to some genuine Poor or in Saturn Temple (Shani Mandir). [1.25 is just the quantity, like when you donate it's usually Savaa (1 1/4), so people generally donate 1.25 kg or 1.25 meter in case of Saturn.] Also, ask him to worship Lord Shiv, Say Mahaa Mrityunjaya Mantra or in any other form he can worship Lord Shiv.

Addition to your suggestion, he should also strengthen his Sun with stone or Mantra. Sun is his 5th Lord and very strong being in 10th and strengthening Sun will help immediately. He is the first hope here.
