6-Shree Lagna (SL)
See also   Shree Lagna

In Sanskrit, the word "Shree" means wealth. It also means Lakshmee, wife of Naarayana and goddess of wealth. Shree Lagna may be denoted by SL. Shree Lagna is important for prosperity. Its use will be shown in the chapter on Su-Dashaa. Computation of Shree Lagna is explained as below

- Find the constellation occupied by Moon.
- Find the fraction of the constellation traversed by Moon.
- Find the same fraction of the zodiac (360).
- Add this amount to the longitude of Lagna. Subtract multiples of 360 if necessary. The resulting amount is the longitude of Shree Lagna (SL).'
(taken from Narasimha P.V.R. Rao's explanation in JHora help)

Shree Lagna in Western astrology is known as "Part of Fortune", a particular degree in Zodiac or Raashi which indicates luck when planets are Yuti or have Drishti with it.

Due to the calculation rule given above it is not really a Lagna but far more a Sahama. Therefore counting houses from Shree Lagna is not advisable, at the same time counting from a Sahama does not make any sense. Horaa, Ghatee and Bhaav Lagna are true ascendants and according to BPHS they should be taken as 1st Bhaav for the themes wealth, power and ....
